Black-owned Venice beach boutique hotel is also a museum
"This is what we call cultural tourism," Kamau Coleman, Redline Hotel Group co-founder and CEO, said. The Redline Venice, a boutique hotel owned by Kamau Coleman and Michael Clinton, is also a museum experience, offering a deep dive into the history of Black pioneers in Venice, Venice. The Redline Group is expanding the concept to other cities such as New Orleans and Miami. The hotel pays homage to the Black and Brown laborers who dug the canals and developed the area, but were not allowed to live there due to redlining from the 1930s to the late 60s. The museum portion of the experience can be accessed through QR codes on the walls, which can be scanned depending on the artist's identity.
