Nithya Raman, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidate for Los Angeles, may be the next mayor of Los Angeles. Raman is a Harvard graduate aiming for a generational upset similar to Zohran Mamdani's successful political revolution in New York. However, the mayoralty of Los Los Angeles is different from that of New York, with Raman's position being subordinate to the City Council. The DSA's support for Raman has been inconsistent, with the group's decision to endorse Raman in an all-member vote opening the group’s infrastructure to her campaign. Despite Raman’ lead in the polls, the City’S other three DSA City Council members have declined to endorse him.
