Dodgers Fans Want to See LA Trade for All-Star Shortstop Tim Anderson

Trade rumors are swirling with White Sox star shortstop Tim Anderson, as the Dodgers have been linked to the two-time All-Star. The Dodgers are looking to add an All-Star shortstop to their roster this season, with Tim Anderson potentially an upgrade up the middle. The White Sox and Dodgers are unlikely to make a move before the season, but they could look to trade some assets at the trade deadline. Fans have expressed their desire to see Anderson play in the World Baseball Classic and have put together a hypothetical trade package between the Sox, Dodgers, and White Sox that would bring Anderson to LA for a package of four prospects headlined by number 4 prospect Michael Busch. If one of Miguel Rojas or Miguel Vargas is struggling over the first few months of the season and Andrew Friedman makes an upgrade, the chances of Rojas making an upgrade vastly improve. Seeing Tim Anderson play in the World Baseball Classic has elicited some feelings among Dodgers fans. They want to see him in blue this season. After Gavin Lux went down with a knee injury, a need was created at shortstop. The Dodgers replaced Lux at short with Miguel Rojas for now but there’s still a clear need for one more infielder on this team if they want to survive a 162 game season.

One potential trade option that would represent an upgrade up the middle is White Sox All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson. T.A. owns a .288 lifetime batting average and hasn’t hit under .300 in a season since 2018. He also brings some added star power to the roster, something fans generally seem to enjoy.

On our Twitter page, we asked fans how they felt about an Anderson trade. As expected, the overwhelming majority of nearly 3,000 voters would love to see it.

Earlier this week, BleacherReport.com put together a hypothetical trade package between the Sox and Dodgers that would bring Anderson to LA for a package of four prospects headlined by number 4 prospect Michael Busch.

The White Sox are likely less inclined to make a move before the season but if the club falters once again early in the season, they could look to trade some assets at the trade deadline. Anderson is a free agent after next season ( $14 million club option), so it would make sense to try and capitalize and get the best value possible much like the Washington Nationals did when they got LA’s top two prospects for Trea Turner in 2021.

Do the Dodgers need to make a trade like this? That’s likely a better question for around the trade deadline. If one of Miguel Rojas or Miguel Vargas, who is taking over at second base this season, are struggling over the first few months of the season, then the chances of Andrew Friedman making an upgrade vastly improve. But if Rojas is at least average with the bat while playing his trademark elite defense at shortstop, if seems a little less likely.
