Anthony Davis Trade Chatter Intensifies Amid Tough Lakers Season

Anthony Davis is in the midst of one of his best seasons ever as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Davis is currently enjoying one of his best seasons ever for the Los Angeles Lakers, playing in 68 of their 73 games this year. However, the team's performance has not been a success, ranking them at 41-32 and ninth in the Western Conference. This has led to speculation about the need for a trade for Davis. Jamal Crawford, on Shaquille O'Neal's podcast, argued that if LeBron James is still the best player, the Lakers could trade him for another wing. Crawford also suggested that the team could get a Kyrie Irving type to help alleviate problems for James. Despite these criticisms, Davis is expected to remain a key player once James leaves.

Anthony Davis is in the midst of one of his best seasons ever as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although he has a reputation for perpetually being hurt, the 31-year-old has actually played in 68 of the team’s 73 games this year.

Unfortunately – it hasn’t done much for the Lakers’ record. They are still 41-32 and rank ninth in the Western Conference.

As a result, murmurs have started about Los Angeles possibly needing to blow this team up.

During a recent appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast, Jamal Crawford made the case that it was time for L.A. to trade Davis.

“They don’t have enough to compete right now. My thing is, if LeBron [James] is still your best player at this point, I’m looking at trading Anthony Davis.

“I’m just telling you, you can get 4-5 pieces to go with him that fit LeBron if LeBron’s still gonna be your best player. They need another wing, a dominant wing scorer.”

Crawford then laid out who he would go out and get if he was the Lakers.

“If they can get a Kyrie Irving type who can just take over quarters and be that Kobe to Shaq, when stuff’s in trouble, I got to take it over, that’s what LeBron needs,” he said.

Many people still regard the Lakers as James’ team. Because of that, it is easy to see why they would prefer to see him get some talent rather than continuing to toil away at the bottom of the West.

That said, realistically, it is clear Lakers ownership views Davis as a future face of the franchise once James departs. No matter what Crawford or anyone else says, he isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
