Deaf workers lose thousands in power tools to thieves, have group hug, vow to 'keep going'

The theft occurred in broad daylight while the construction workers were making repairs to a home in Granada Hills. Jan Menapace, a homeowner in Granada Hills, California, has raised $5,000 to replace the tools stolen by a small crew of deaf construction workers while they were working on repairs to her home. The workers were working to patch a leak and repair water damage in her kitchen during storms. Menapate described the theft as "very brazen" and "heartbreaking." She shared videos of the incident with The Times in hopes of identifying the thieves. The theft came after the crew had been working in the rain trying to fix a leak. Michael Litberg, owner of Neverless Construction, who is also deaf, told Menapac that the tools had gone missing. So far, the fundraising effort has raised nearly $4,000.
