Mom of Student Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver Calls for Tougher DUI Laws
The mother of a teenage tennis star who was fatally struck by an alleged drunken driver in Manhattan Beach called Monday for tougher DUI laws to crack down on impaired motorists. Jennifer Levi, mother of 18-year-old tennis star, Braun Levi, has called for tougher DUI laws in California to clamp down on impaired motorists. She joined a news conference with District Attorney Nathan Hochman and other elected officials to discuss the need for tougher laws. Jenia Resha Belt, 33, was charged with murder, gross vehicular murder while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. Levi's son was fatally struck by a drunk driver on May 4, killing him shortly before graduation. The victim was a nationally ranked tennis player and was about to leave Loyola High School. Jennifer Levi supports legislation being pushed by Sen. Bob Archuleta, D-Pico Rivera, to toughen sentences for impaired drivers.
