An initial $5 million transfer is expected to be approved by the council on Wednesday, according to councilmember Ysabel Jurado. Los Angeles City Councilmember Ysabel Jurado has announced a $10.5 million recovery package for residents and businesses affected by a June warehouse fire in Boyle Heights. The initial $5 million transfer will provide financial assistance for businesses and households, with another $5.5 additional funding for additional "additional household assistance". Mayor Karen Bass praised Jurado's initiative and pledged to continue supporting the Boyle Heights community. The fire, which began on June 17 at a Lineage cold storage facility, cost more than $100 million and took over two months to clean up, leading to unbearable odors and rodent infestations. The full recovery fund includes $5M from Unappropriated Balance to LA Sanitation and Community Investment Department (CID) and LA San Antonio).
