26 Speed Cameras Activated Across LA: See Map Of Locations
The first of the city's 125 planned speed cameras went live this week, with more expected to be activated by the end of the year. 26 speed cameras have been installed across Los Angeles, marking the beginning of a rollout that is expected to bring 125 speed cameras to streets throughout the city by the end of the year. The cameras are part of a statewide pilot program authorized by California lawmakers in 2023, allowing seven cities to install automated speed enforcement cameras. Currently, drivers caught speeding will receive warning notices in the mail rather than tickets, which will change once the 60-day warning period ends. Once the warning period is over, drivers will face fines based on how far they exceed the posted speed limit. The move comes as Los Angeles continues to face a high number of traffic fatalities, with 290 deaths in 2025 compared to the previous year. Other California cities have already begun issuing tickets through the program.
