USC Aiken's inner campus hosted the annual Buddy Walk, a celebration of Down Syndrome Awareness Month and promoting acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in the CSRA. The event was held by Upside of Downs of Aiken, a local organization, organized by the first local Buddy Walk in 2008. The walk, which includes a 10-minute walk around the quad, participants are encouraged to wear signs, costumes, and a megaphone. Marquita Magsby, whose 21-month-old daughter, Zoe, has Down syndrome, said the goal of the event was to support people with Down Syndrome and their involvement in a community that accepts them.
