Should the City Run Its Own Bank? Council Wants $460,000 to Study It — Again
The LA City Council voted 11–3 to seek funding for a stalled public bank feasibility study, drawing pushback over city financial management. We Explore Earth, a nonprofit organization leading Earth Day cleanups and conservation projects, took place across the country on April 18. The group removed over 2,000 pounds of trash from natural and public land and culminated in local celebrations, the largest of which was in L.A. The nonprofit provides year-round programming and educational outdoor experiences to help people connect with nature and give back to nature. The Los Angeles City Council has requested $460,000 for a study into the city's own bank.
