SAG-AFTRA actors launch "One Job Away" campaign to find work, keep their health insurance
A growing social media campaign is shining a light on the struggle that many movie and television audiences never see, as actors fight for more work so they qualify for SAG-AFTRA union health insurance. A social media campaign, "One Job Away," aims to highlight actors working job to meet the union's $28,000 minimum in annual earnings to receive health insurance. The campaign, started by actor Cheyenne Jackson, who was one job short last year when he received a part on "Misery" star Kathy Bates. The goal is to highlight these actors who are currently just short of qualifying for SAG-AFTRA coverage. The campaigns also share their stories so casting directors can find them. Jackson has created an Instagram account to showcase these stories. The SAGAFTra Health Plan, which covers approximately 25,000 participants at the end of 2025, is up nearly a thousand from the previous year.
